Private William G. Amburgey
5th Kentucky Mounted Infantry, CSA

Private William G. "Dog Shin" Amburgey was born in March 1835 in Perry County, the son of Umphrey Amburgey and Fannie Johnson.

He enlisted in the 5th Kentucky Mounted Infantry at Whitesburg on November 1, 1862, and was discharged at the end of his term of enlistment on April 14, 1863 in Louisa.

He returned home and in 1866 married Susanna W. Boggs of Cumberland County. They had seven children. He lived in Letcher and Montgomery Counties, and Wise County, Virginia. He died in 1921.
