Josiah Fugate

      Josiah and Elizabeth Fugate were the parents of Sarah Fugate who married Archibald Prater. They owned 2,400 acres of land on the New River in Montgomery County before moving to Russell County, Virginia. The Fugates originally settled o the Moccasin Creek in southwest Virginia. They moved to Kentucky and settled along the Kentucky River in Clay and Perry counties.
