Private William York
47th Kentucky Volunteer Mounted Rifles,
1828 - 1863

William York was born in Kentucky in about 1838 if his age was listed correctly on the enlistment records. He enrolled in the 47th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry on July 25th and was mustered at Irvine on October 5, 1863 in Co. C. He died at the Regimental Hospital at Camp Nelson, Kentucky on Nov 7, 1863 of a relapse of measles.

The same day that David mustered, there was also a Alfred York (aged 18) Co A, and David York (aged 2_) Co. A. These are likely his relatives, and he is likely a descendant of Jeremiah and Lea Clark York of Clay County.

Zetta's cousin?
